An arrhythmia is an irregular heartbeat. This means that your heart is out of its normal rhythm. You may feel like your heart is skipping a beat, adding a beat, or “floating”. You may feel like you are beating too fast or too slow. Arrhythmias can be urgent or harmless. If you feel anything unusual happening to your heartbeat, get medical help right away so doctors can figure out why it's happening and what to do about it.
